Jenn is my mentor and friend. I started with her at the age of 13 and I am still in touch with her ten years later. Thanks to Jenn, I was the best student in my freshman Fashion Design program at Drexel. Her teaching style produced an end product that amazed everyone. Jenn was responsible for getting me an internship as a handbag patternmaker even before attending college. This led, during college, to another internship/job. Thank you, Jenn, for all your help.
From a 2012 newspaper article:
Only a junior at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Jessica Mintz… would seem to be on the fast track toward a career in fashion design as evidenced by a host of exciting opportunities.
Mintz has been chosen as one of 14 finalists in the Macy’s Phillies Ballgirls Design Challenge. She also works as an intern with designer Nanette Lapore, was recently selected by Drexel University to enter a children’s wear collection competition and was chosen to enter the Women’s Wear Portfolio in the Geoffrey Beene competition.
Mintz's Phillies Ballgirl Uniform design will be showcased during a fashion show at Macy’s Center City in Philadelphia on March 31. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges…(Jessica won the competition for the Phillies Ballgirl Uniform.)
..She said she also studied with Jennifer Siletski in Springfield to learn how to make handbags…
Jessica was a design intern at Manolucci, Mundi Westport, Nanette Lepore and currently works as a design assistant at Cynthia Steffe.
After my injury, I never dreamed I would be going to FIT. No words will ever be enough to express my gratitude.
Good news. Jade made the Dean’s List (SCAD). I am sure you are a part of this success as she gained self-confidence after taking lessons from you this past summer. She became more decisive about what she wanted to study. Jade wanted to drop out of school last year but loves what she is doing now. Thank you.
Through my education at NJSFDA, I was able to build a strong foundation for the accessories industry. With this background, I was able to intern after my first year of college (FIT) at Manolucci Designs where I now work full-time. The overall experience was also beneficial throughout my other internships at Mark Jacobs International, Badgley Mischka and The Frye Company. I am grateful to have attended Jenn’s school and learn hands-on what it takes to create the finished products I now work with everyday.
Jennifer’s classes, taken when I was in high school, were extraordinary. I learned to be a disciplined and careful student no matter what I was pursuing. Her classes were great fun and different from anything else I had done prior to meeting her. I loved them! I continue to enjoy the skills I learned in her classes. When I was in Graduate School, I used these skills to earn extra money! MSW ‘13
